Sometimes I Wish To Be a Stay at Home Mom- Well...Minus the Child and the One Income...

I was just kidding about the Stay at Home Mom thing, I know you ladies work your butts off. And that is an eventual goal of mine once we decide to have children, but sometimes it looks so nice to look at the generation of stay at home Mom's whose kids are now in college and they get to volunteer, take care of their yards, make a meal with more then one course in it regularly, actually read a book that is not for a class/work, and even go on fun little day trips together. I am sure as with anything it has its downfalls (boredom, less money etc.), but it just looks so great! Or even the ones with younger children, I know there are really long hard days of sick kids, crying, diapers, etc. But there are also some great experiences that they get to have with their kids, like trips to the zoo, playgrounds, coloring etc. When you are having one h*ll of a day at work, coloring with a cute little kid sounds pretty great! I know, I know...grass is always greener...haha...just something I have been thinking about lately. Mabye for now I just need a vacay!

Hope you are all having a great week!
xoxo,
Kelly

  1. I agree. I have major respect for stay at home moms. An entirely different experience!

P.S. There's an award for you on my blog! :)

  2. I think being a SAHM is one of the most amazing experiences in the world. I was a pre-school teacher, before I gave it up to stay home. I love my son (and the two others I take care of) but some days.. its harder then thirty kids! You never have a break. You don't just get to leave the office, and put your feet up. I am literaly moving/going from the time I wake up in the morning, until they are asleep.. even after that its laundry and preparing for the next day!

You're right, its always greener on the other side! BUT unless you have help (ie:nanny, or a babysitter) being a SAHM is not any easier then having a full time job!

  3. You are absolutely right Kelly. It's the best job in the world. It's also the hardest job in the world. I think that's what makes it so great. You know - the pendulum swings. The degree if difficulty and pain = the degree of joy. So maybe someday for you .... here's hoping!

  4. I desperately want to be a stay at home Grandma! I need to win Publisher's Clearing house or the lottery or something to make my dream come true!!

  5. Okay, can I just say that I AM LIVING YOUR DREAM! And guess what? It IS fantastic! After my second child was born, I stayed home and I have prayed and thanked my Heavenly Father every day for this blessing. The secret is in doing it well, which is about finding a balance.

It was tiresome when the kids were younger~lots of bums to wipe and meals to fix. But suddenly, that season ends and another begins and I now find myself having just sent my youngest out the door this very morning to fifth grade, as my oldest serves a mission for our church in Brazil.

There is a reason so many women yearn for this...it's part of our divine nature. Not that working and career and feeling a part of something outside of our home isn't wonderful. But nothing I could ever succeed in, in this world, can compete with the joy of raising my children~making bread, decorating birthday cakes, coloring and reading and sewing blessing dresses. A gift in my life. I hope you receive the same.

  7. I've been feeling the exact same way. Ahh, the perks of parenthood! I'd better keep my head out of the clouds though or I'm going to have one seriously rude awakening when David and I decide to have babies!
