Proud to be an American

Wake Up America!!! While you may not believe in the war, believe in those who are sacrificing themselves for your freedom! Support our Troops and honor them whenever you can. We would like to thank our Active Military, Veterans, our Fallen Soldiers and their families for their dedication, courage and sacrifice. Thank You. We remember now, and we will never forget.

Sara and I love America, and celebrating everything that is great about America. And even in these sometimes troubling times, we still need to remember there are a LOT of great things about getting to live in this country. We are so lucky.

So especially today, but every day we are SO grateful for everyone both active military and our veterans as well as their loved ones who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. So thank you! Show our military there are still plenty of people who appreciate their service and sacrifice.

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Bags

I finally made my own bags game. Well by me, I really mean my boyfriend! My job is to decide what to paint on them. Any ideas?!?
I was thinking maybe something with the American flag. Or the standard team logo. Just can't decide!!

“We made a deal ages ago. Men, babies, it doesn't matter. We're soulmates.” - Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Sex and the City 2

LOVE this quote by Samantha from the new Sex and the City! Isn't this the kind of friendship that we would all love to have and keep for our whole lives?! As you can probably tell, I have a huge focus on my husband and family, but I also try really hard to keep my girlfriends a major priority because they are such an important relationship and support system to maintain.

Going to see this movie this weekend with one of my bridesmaids who is coming in to town and staying with us for the weekend, and we are pumped!

Hope all of you lovelies are having a great week!

I try not to be a Debbie Downer...but mabye just for .5

Have you felt lately that the dark circles under your eyes now have their own dark circles? Or that exhausted and stressed out is just the hot new look for 2010? I don't sleep, feel like I am going to vomit all the time, and am now scratching my legs so hard that the skin is coming off and scabbing everywhere (stress enduced exima the doc says). It's bad, and I am just waiting for a break!

So in honor of trying to relax and enjoy, here are some of my go-to fav's that always seem to help:

I know I am a total nerd for saying this, but I love the Sim's (have for years)! I love decorating their houses and running their lives! So much fun :)

Chuck! Such a great show, hope they don't cancel!

Punta Cana All Inclusive Resorts= Heaven on Earth!!!

Anyone see NCIS this week?! Obsessed and can't wait for the next one. Not so much into L.A., but love the normal one!!!

So a combo of some of these things (and others) and of course my wonderful family and friends are what makes all of the crazy worthwhile :)

What are your go-to fav's?

Kelly

Barefoot in Summer

My current favorite wine...

Barefoot Sauvignon is full of the flavors of ripe summer fruit. Sweet notes of honeydew melon, juicy nectarine and white pear. Perfect for summer! But really I love a good white wine (try any of the 6 different choices of whites from Barefoot.) Oh and it always comes with an amazing price tag!!

Today's Annoying Story

Today while I was driving back to work I saw a "homeless" man doing something behind his cardboard sign. I crept up and low and behold, he was typing on his touch screen cell phone. I am a social worker in the Twin Cities and want to express my frustration about beggars. DON'T give them money, food, ect. I have clients who beg on street corners who make more than I do in a year. Follow a beggar home one night and see where they go... to their car parked a couple streets down! When you see someone begging, drop them off an application for MaDonald's (or a local place you know is hiring.)

Now I know there are some unfortunate situations, especially with the economy how it is today. But for the most part, the beggars you see don't need your money. To keep them off the corners, roll your windows up and keep them up.

If this unidentified meal recipient is too poor to buy his own food, how does he afford a cellphone?
And if he is homeless, where do they send the cellphone bills?

I'm so in love...

My foster dog:

I still have Steve, my Italian Grey Hound. He is awesome...
2 months ago he was afraid of EVERYTHING, I mean leaves, wind, noise, ect. But now he is great. He is only really afraid of new people. He is warming up to dogs and loves to wrestle and play. He is 95% potty trained which just shows how smart he is! He is a little diva and I love it. I keep contiplating adoption... I just don't think I can do the committment. Ask Kel, I fear committment! But he will make a great pet. They had some interested people but I didn't think they were quite right (and no I wasn't sabbatoging them haha) but we'll find his perfect forever home soon!

Major Chicken...

So my husband got laid off the week after our wedding, and recently found a job. Which is so great! It takes a little pressure off, because on my salary it was really tight and we barely did anything. We have not taken a honeymoon, we don't go on dates, go to dinner....not much. So I am very grateful that we have two incomes coming in now.

But tonight I am sitting here all by myself until 11 pm and it creeps me out! I am such a scaredy cat! I don't know how people live by themselves. I have lived in dorms by myself, and in my own room in a house full of girls in my sorority or with my family, but never really alone. Every noise, I think is there someone in the house?! I know it is crazy, but it is just how I feel. Probably doesn't help that I watch all of these shows like NCIS and CSI where people are constantly getting attacked...but whatev.

Does anyone else feel this way or am I the only chicken around?

I did have my family and some family friends of ours over, and their children re-affirmed my feelings of not being ready for kids. OMG, talk about birth control! But it was really fun to have some coctails and Mexican food on our deck.

Hope you are all having a great weekend :)

AMAZING

Now I have watched Grey's from day 1 but have had my doubts lately. It just hasn't had a plot and I was sick of everyone sleeping with everyone. BUT THEN... they did it again. An amazing finale...

A gunman terrorizes Seattle Grace... there were so many intense scenes that I was on the edge of my chair the whole 2 hours. I loved that Derrick did not die and that Christina was able to work on him. I am glad Meredith is not pregnant because then all next season she would be dealing with that. I fell in love with Richard again, he did great! Glad Miranda found a guy, but I think I liked the mean Bailey better!! I am glad Yang and Owen broke up, when they made out I wanted to vomit.

Side note, I would compare Christina and Meredith to Kel and I. We don't show emotions but when we do you know its bad. We know what eachother are thinking and are kinda at the same place as they are in the show. Kel is Mer and I am Christina...

Derek: I'm not gonna die.
Meredith: Good. Because that would be the worst break-up ever.

This is totally us:
Cristina: So, if you and Derek are on a plane crash and you die, the kid is mine?
Meredith: Yes.
Cristina: I have to admit kind of hope you and Derek die just a little bit. So I can raise the kid with decent priorities.

Thank You to Our Fellow T-bell Addicts/Followers...

Not that we are pro's, because we are more like struggle to a victory type of girls, but in honor of our 100 followers! Yay! We decided to reflect on what blogging had been like for us thus far.

* First off, THANK YOU! Thanks for getting to know us, and letting us get to know you. In the month and a half we have been blogging we have gotten to know so many people and we just love learning all about the fun things you do and LOVE getting your comments.

* You all make us want to spend WAYYYY too much money with all the cute things you are posting everyday...ohhh to be rich :)

* Blogging is addicting- We can't wait to see what new things people are doing, and it is great when you are having a bad day to go home and read all the cute and funny stories you are all posting.

* The biggest thing for Kelly- It has humbled me. I think about all of the stupid things we complain about every day, that in the long run don't matter. Then I go and read about real problems like babies dying, families broken apart and illness' and I feel like an ungrateful idiot. I feel like in general most of us are very lucky and blogging helps give me a reality check and be grateful for the life that God has given me.

* For Sara- she LOVES reading comments. It doesn't matter how
many followers we have its about the people who actually get into our
blog and we are able to follow theirs as well.

So, thank you for following us and let us know if you have any suggestions of things that you are interested in us telling you about.

Hope you are all having an awesome week! Yay for the weekend being so soon :)

I DID IT!

I ran my first 5K today! Now I am going to warn everyone that I am not a runner but my uncle has colon cancer and did not find it in time and was diagnosed about a year ago. They didn't give him long as the cancer has spread to his liver and lungs but he is going to chemo and continues to work. He is such a role model and I hope he continues to win the fight. At Easter he got his blood work back and the numbers were the best they have ever been. So I decided then if he can go through all that with an amazing attitude I could run it this year! I didnt quite run the whole thing but tried my best and it was a beautiful day with a great group of people!

Colon cancer is highly treatable. If it is found in its earliest stages, the 5-year survival rate is 90%.

Downtown Chicago with the Family-Happy 21st Birthday Maggie!!!

My cousin has had a rough life, and this year has been one of the harder year's for her. Her Mom and Step-Dad have both been having some major health issues and it has been really hard for her because she lives here with her fiancee and they live in Michigan.

So we always try to make sure as a family that she knows how important she is and to make sure her birthday is a big deal.

Yesterday we went downtown Chicago and met at Navy Pier. Her Mom, who she hasn't seen for almost a year because of all the stuff going on surprised her and was there and she was so shocked and happy that she started crying which got us all going. I was so happy with everything going on that this could happen, because it was exactly what they both needed. The best b-day present she could ever get.

So then through out the day we walked around Navy Pier and Michigan Ave shopping and just checking everything out. For lunch we went to the Signature room, which is on the 96th floor of the Hancock building. It was amazing. I had never been there before, and LOVE it now. I had thought the prices were going to be crazy-out of this world expensive, but depending on what you get it is not bad at all. Definitely worth the price for the amazing view!!! I would recomend it to anyone as a must do in Chicago.

The Birthday girl and her fiancee

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Our Trip to Sicily!

Senior year of college Sara and I went on a three week j-term trip that our school was offering to the island of Sicily and it was one of my favorite things I have ever done. It was a credit class, but we tried to make it as little about class as possible. I mean, we are seniors, we have that whole school thing down, right?

So we did as little as possible, and played our lives away exploring the cities. Our teacher HATED how his class was not our number one priority and thought we were such idiots, but the funny thing was with how little we tried we got the best grade in the class! In the end he warmed up to us because he could see that while we came off as two crazies that just wanted to have fun, we were obviously still absorbing something. See? Why waste your time studying when you can get an A and still focus on other things like site-seeing and drinking?!?

So the first week, we were in the beautiful city of Taormina! Seriously, go there if you ever have the chance. It is so gorgeous it looks like a set straight out of a theme park or movie. That week we took Italian and just took in the city! We happened to be there for New Year's and it was a blast to see the difference between there and here. They don't even start going out until after midnight and stay out until about 8 am. It was so great. We def. stood out because it was 50ish at night so us midwest girl's go out in these short dresses and tank tops thinking it is pretty warm for a night out and they are all wearing winter coats and mittens. They def. knew we weren't locals, haha!

The second and third week we were in Saracusa, which is a much bigger city surrounded on 3 sides by ocean. This was also an awesome place to visit, and we had our own little four person villas for the two week stay. It was awesome! We took History of Sicily so we would go on different day trips to some of Sicily's most popular attractions. We went out almost every night here, and made "good friends" with this creepy old Italian guy who owned a bar who kept trying to marry us off to his relatives, but at least we got lots of free drinks! This is where my hatred for gin stemmed from, they love it and all I can think of is Christmas tree, uggghhhh...Let me tell you bus trips weren't fun the next morning though, we wanted to die! Worth it though :)

Here are some pics...

Go on any great trips with your best friend? Been to Sicily? Can't wait to go on more trips with Sara (mabye we'll let the guys come to-if they are good :/ lol)

Hope you lovelies have an awesome weekend!!!

SHOES

So my friend and I came across this website:
shoedazzle.com/home
Has anyone heard of this website? Do we think this is for real?! I always thought if its too good to be true, it probably is!
Basically its $40/mo membership which includes 1 pair of shoes per month and if you would like additional ones you have to pay for those. "Stylists" choose 5 pairs and you pick the one that you like best and they mail them to you, they pay for shipping.
Let me know what you think!

Marriage...

Now I am kinda the opposite of Kel. At least right now, I love my life. Why complicate things with marriage. I love my boyfriend but am in no hurry to rush life! Someday I will look back with my 9283982 kids and the pictures from my Vegas wedding and wonder when I changed my mind but until then, I just enjoy attending the weddings!

The trouble with some women, is that they get all excited about nothing - and then marry him.
In Danish, the word for 'being married' and 'poison' are the same word... coincidence? I think not!

Just because I am married...doesn't mean I have to have a baby!!!

Everyone and their mom wants me to have a baby lately. That is all I hear about. It is like the second you get engaged, that is the first thing people think about is the grandbabies. Now that I am married it is even worse. We just want a little time to enjoy eachother and get all our stuff together so we can focus on being great parents (when we are ready). Anyone else feel this way???

I think a huge part of my problem with the pregnancy thing is that we have no insurance to cover me being preggers so that is not even an option. Plus we don't have the income to be comfortable to have a baby. Idk...it is just a lot of pressure...

BTW...Happy Mother's Day Mommy's. I hosted Mother's Day for my whole family today and it went really well. I love any time I can spend with my family.
