Thoughts and Prayers

Hey loves,

Just wanted to stop in and say that Kel had a death in the family and I hope you guys will keep her and the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Also give lots to Kel but a little to me. Its my grandpas birthday tomorrow and although he passed away we all still miss him so much. He has been gone for just a year and a half but its still so hard.

Shocker..Heidi and Spencer=trainwreck

I am attempting to focus on more light topics, because we all need other things to keep our minds on, right?! No matter what is going on you can still feel like your life is okay when you look at the trainwreck that is the Pratts.

How do we all feel about Heidi and Spencers new sex tape drama? I couldn't even believe how ridiculous they were on the last season of the Hills. Forget the fact that she is 85% plastic now... but between the whole baby/no baby drama, and the bajillion dollar crystals they were rubbing on their foreheads, etc....ridic!

So now, this supposed super religious girl has a sex tape coming out with another woman that is being released by her husband? hmmmm...

Thoughts?

Also, on a side note:
On the way in to work they said on the radio that 1 in 4 men bring a teddy bear with them on business trips...I was surprised. Are you? Do you think all of them have children who helped them pack? Or they just like to cuddle ;)

CHINA

Beijing

Tiananmen Square was huge! Very beautiful. Background history- protests of 1989, was a massacre that were a series of demonstrations in and near Tiananmen Square in Beijing in the beginning on 14 April 1989. Led mainly by students and intellectuals, the protests occurred in a year that saw the collapse of a number of communist governments around the world. It is estimated that 3,000 protesters were killed. There is no video footage/evidence showing violence in the square itself. Following the conflict, the government conducted widespread arrests of protesters and their supporters, cracked down on other protests around China, banned the foreign press from the country and strictly controlled coverage of the events in the press. Members of the Party who had publicly sympathized with the protesters were purged, with several high-ranking members placed under house arrest. We also went to the Forbidden City which is laid out very well and you get to see a lot of pottery and what the Chineese make with their hands. It made me love the USA even more. Our government does not control everything we do/hear/see. Well... we hope they never do.

Great Wall- I recommend to go to a starting point that doesn't have all stairs haha. It was quite a work out and I didn't see 1 person who could make it all the way. I know now why you can see this beast from space, its HUGE!

Hot Pot Dinner - similar to Fondue was awesome. You order tons of food for the whole table and put it into a pot like structure with hot water which cooks your meat/food.

We stopped by the site where the 2008 Summer Olypics were held in Beijing. If you ever have the chance go at night, it was cooler and looked awesome with all the lights. I really think I now need to see an Olypic action at some point in my life! The stadiums were huge to accomadate all the guests. The Beijing National Stadium is called the Birds Nest because of the sturctures look from the outside.

We went to the Silk Market. Think of a warehouse with tons and tons of vendors. It was HUGE, I think it had 7 floors of everything you could think of. You can debate on the prices and just walk away if you don't want to pay it... they just come running after you! I have never heard of Chloe but I am in love with her purses! I got a while Chloe bag, UGG boots, 4 scarves, a mug for my mom, a tie for my boyfriend and 2 make up bags. It was all super cheap and I wish I would have bought more, I love everything!

Temple of Heaven was very pretty. We stood in the middle of the temple and reached for Heaven!

Peking Duck, or Peking Roast Duck is a famous duck dish from Beijing that has been prepared since the imperial era, and is now considered one of China's national foods. The dug is sliced in front of the diners by the cook into 121 (i think) slices. I kinda felt like I was in The Christmas Story when they went to the Chineese place on Christmas haha.

Xi'an

Our Hotel was the Howard Johnson for its great location. Staff was ok but the breakfast was awesome! They had such a wide variety of food and tons of great things to try. They also had pretty good happy hour specials as well as a tea tasting on the 2nd floor.

We visted the Teracotta Warriors. A group of peasants uncovered some pottery while digging for a well nearby the royal tomb in 1974. Life size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations are everwhere! Originally the warriors were colored but when they hit the air the color fades.

Chinese acrobats in Xi'an were crazy! Not at all like the circus. These acrobats can do things I haven't even dreamed of!!

Bell Tower- stands in the center of Ancient Xi’an City.

China in general:
-Taxis: They are awesome drivers haha. You pretty much drive as fast as you can. There are really no rules while driving just get to your destination asap. It was funny and I think my family got a little afraid but I wish every taxi was like that. We have like 4 lane highways, well they turn that into like 8. Lanes/lines are just something on the road, no one really follows it.

-Swimming Caps are required in the pools, damn did we look good in our caps!

-People LOVED us. My 7 year old cousin is a blonde hair blue eyes and all they wanted to do was take picutres with us. People would come up and pose with us and then we would just be bombarded with pictures and people who wanted to take pictures with us! It was funny. Now I know what its like to be famous.

I think that is it... hope I got everything. Feel free to ask any questions and hope I can answer them

I had a blast and never thought I would even dream of going to China. I loved it and if you ever get the change, its worth it!!

Furry Fridays

Meet Sophie:

Name: Sophie (Mastiff, Presa Canario)
Age: 4 - 5 months old
Weight: 45 lbs
Favorite Things: Chicken!, exploring, swimming
Waiting for a home since: July, 2010
About Sophie: We don't know what happened to Sophie in the first few months of her life, but we found her at a local animal control, scared. We think that she was confined to a basement with little exposure to the world. She doesn't really show signs typical of abuse, but rather that she really wasn't exposed to much and doesn't know what to do. She is learning what the normal life of a dog entails, and it all started with chicken! Sophie loves chicken and is learning to like other treats & toys too. She now loves to wag her tail and check things out around her. We think that Sophie will be a great gal with a little love and patience. She needs to go to a home that is very committed to continued training and socialization with her.

Updates:
Great news, Dillan and Alissio were both adopted into their forever homes!

No way!

Saw this and totally agree!!

The same people who fight against prayer in schools are drooling over the chance to put a Muslim super center at Ground Zero. If you oppose this offensive idea.

This is a major problem our administration wants to bow to islamic extremists and apologize for our beliefs being different from that of islamic extremism. Our once great country is starting to seem more and more like the french.Instead of staying on the offensive like America should, our current admin would rather appease those who dislike us. What has happened to our country? Open your eyes Washington and stop this nonsense for the love of God show some backbone.

I think that the building should be multi-devotional. A place where all religions are recognized, whether they believe in one god or many. The healing needs to begin at ground zero. We are not fighting a religion, we are fighting people who... think of terror as a way of getting their point across and who are zealots.

I AM BACK!!!

Whew, what can I say?! I had a blast in China. I am going to break up the trip a little bit and have a couple posts talking about my trip. I haven't uploaded my pictures either so bare with me.
We visited Beijing and Xi'an for 2 weeks and these are some places we visited:

The Great Wall:

We were at the steepest part of the Great Wall. We had to take a chair lift to the top and then hiked around. It was so hot and then we just kept climbing and climbing. What a great workout, no wonder why all the Chinese are skinny haha. Obviously we didnt go all the way, but did what we could and then headed back down to the markets.

People thought we were celebrities. I have brown hair and my little cousin has blonde hair/blye eyes. Everyone wanted to take pictures of us and it was actually pretty funny.
I picked up a good amount of Chinese while I was there, I am afraid I will lose it in no time though now that I am back in the states.

More to come once I get the pictures up!!

What is new with everyoen?!

Withdrawl

Hey Loves,
I am going through some serious Sara withdrawl. She has been gone for a week and still has a week to go. It is so wierd how hard it is not to talk to or text your best friend for two weeks! It is ridic! I keep thinking of all of these things I would be texting her about and then am like oh crap, she is in China. Hopefully she is having an amazing time, but I can't wait until she comes home!

Anyone do anything fun and exciting this weekend? My conference went great! I am obsessed with the new line and I got over $900 of free product. So great! Can't wait because next year is in MN where Sara and my whole fam are from. So great : )

I have $300 in gift certificates to spend on the new fall and winter stuff and am horrible at making decisions. If you have time I would love your opinion on what you think I should get!
